THE M-U PUBLIC LIBRARY’S SUMMER READING CLUB PARTICIPANTS CELEBRATE

The Children’s Department is proud to announce the names of the 153 young readers who recently completed the 2012 “Dream Big – Read” Summer Reading Club. This represents over 2,600 hours of reading during the months of June and July!  All the children were awarded a new book, thanks to the generosity of the New Friends of the Milton-Union Public Library, a coupon for the Ohio State Fair, Skateworld of Kettering, Wendy’s, Winans Fine Coffees and an ice cream cone from Magel’s Dairy Bar.  Ten names were drawn to receive grand prizes; the lucky winners were: Miles Campbell, Carly Deaton, Carson Dickey, Carson Fulton, Amberlee Furlong, Charleigh McNeil, Maya Shaw, Jacob Stewart, Oliver Trim and Carly Wray.

The three grand prize winners of the “Own the Night” themed Summer Reading Program were: Katlyn Grisso, Jaren Hinten and Brandon Stewart. There were 22 entries with 374 hours of reading. The adult SRP had 78 entries with a total reading time of 1,326 hours. The winners of the “Between the Covers” themed SRP were: Vicky Burnside, Meredith Marsh and Angela Sowers.

The library staff is very grateful for the community’s support of the summer reading programs this year.  Without financial and in-kind contributions from our Friends group, Wertz Variety Store, Troy Wal-Mart, Magel’s Dairy Bar, Wendy’s, Skateworld of Kettering, the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, the Ohio State Fair, the Merritt and Carpenter families and many generous individuals, the library would not have been able to offer the quality of programs our patrons love.

They are also extremely thankful for their volunteers: Elaine Pickering, Sammi Asher, Brianna Merritt, Olivia Brady, Riko Waymire, Tawne Estes, Ronnie and Trudy Heisey, Jeremy Heisey, Dave Madewell, Tim Koeller, Cassie Wheeler, Nick Wheeler, Jordan Pricer, Michaela Fullmer, Bethany Benkert, Emily Sowers, Matt Larson, Lizzie Fetters, Luke Ferguson, Rob Merritt, Emma Cooper, Tommy Smith, Judy Clark, Mary Larson, Alex White, Kaylee Louis, Marilyn Mitchell, Tyler Bilbrey, Brianna Merritt and Don Clark who gave of their talents before and during the summer.
